I will be speaking on 24 October at this Asia Pacific conference on regional development community. Interconnected and interconnectivity are two pillars of new economy....perhaps we can call our current and future economy as economy of geography. The more we are connected through trains, ships, aircrafts, highway and techolonoly, the better our economy would be. The more we are exclusive and isolated, the faster we become obselete and irrelevant.
What is the Shariah basis and the data on this new economy of interconnectivity? What is Shariah trying to impress on the theme of interconnectivity since 1400 years ago? How do we develop Islamic businesss in the region of Asia Pacific be it in financial sector or real economy sector?
I have some ideas & perspectives on this theme. I intend to articulate them in my keynote address. If you believe in the empowerment of Muslim community (instead of talking and chanting about it), come and listen to many real cases of this venture. Developing real business is hard but developing regional business accross communities is harder.
Developing real business is not seasonal....it is a full time job and all year around. It requires not only capital and courage, but also tears and self reflection. Business men who are truthful and trustworthy are together with the Prophets, truthful believers, martyrs and pious men in the grand gathering of mahshar (awakening day). They rank higher than anyone else bcoz they are the ones (in this world) who bring food to the table, power to the house & factory, water to household & irrigation purposes, employment to the people and prosperity to all. Above all, they were straight and ethical in their financial & business dealings. The Divine reward here, in my view, relates to both profession and behaviour jointly. Being straight is easy for everyone else but not for traders. Here lies the secret.
Please join me and others to see how some of us have been working extra hard to develop business development for the Muslim community accross countries and geographies. They may not be perfect in their achievement but they are great and amazing in ideation and efforts.
